Councilwoman endorses Colin Smith

To the editor:

As a three-term Peekskill Councilwoman and life-long resident, I have known Colin Smith for years – from our service together on the Peekskill Common Council, through his two terms on the Westchester County Board of Legislators. As council member and local attorney, Colin brought his valuable legal expertise to enrich discussions of complex projects and issues. Under our Democratic leadership, Peekskill has flourished – and became a lively destination for Northern Westchester and the Hudson Valley.

This upcoming election gives us the opportunity to vote for candidates who prioritizes finding solutions to improve everyone’s quality of life. Colin has worked diligently to get us the County resources we need:

Nearly $100M to increase affordable housing for all, especially seniors

$8.245M for the rebuilding and repair of the Louisa Street bridge in Peekskill.

An additional $5M for major upgrades to Blue Mountain Reservation park.

Lower parental contribution for child care from 10% to 5% for subsidized programs.

Following Covid, free therapeutic mental health for children and teens in need through the “63 Invest in Kids” program.

These are just a few of the many positive changes that inspire confidence our county is in good hands with Colin. I’m happy to endorse County Legislator Colin Smith for re-election to the Westchester County Board of Legislators. Please vote Row A on November 7th!
