Studying Political Science during his undergraduate career at Hunter College, Ray DePaul looked for ways that he could implement into everyday life what he was learning in his major.  Choosing a concentration in Human Rights, he completed several journalism classes to learn how best to tell stories that inspire systemic change.

A working journalist-professor inspired him to pursue further studies in journalism right out of his undergraduate career. Deciding that all human rights injustice stories are either health and/or science-related, he became committed to pursuing a program at the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism in August of 2023. While the spirit of political journalism from undergraduate studies persists, he has now focused on telling environment stories, with hopes of working in climate visualizations for a future career in journalism.

Outside of work, Ray often hangs out with his friends in New York City and goes to its many parks to relax.
