In the wake of the leaked Supreme Court documents signaling an end to the constitutional right to an abortion, about 100 activists marched from City Court on Nelson Avenue to Senator Chuck Schumer’s office at One Park Place on Wednesday evening.

Members of pro-choice organizations advocating the right to safe and legal abortions spoke to the crowd urging them to work to codify through legislation the right to an abortion. At the end of the hour-long rally people were urged to take out their phones and call Senator Schumer (who was not in his Peekskill office) and advise him to work for a federal law to permit abortion.  They were advised to call State Senator Andrea Stewart Cousins urging her to to pass Senate bill 8778 to protect legal abortion providers and anyone seeking an abortion in New York by prohibiting law enforcement from cooperating with out-of-state investigations related to abortion.
