A connection between the earth and women is at the heart of a community gathering to be held in the city on Friday, May 16. The event, organized by Peekskill Regeneration Farm, commemorates Women’s Day through the deep bond between two life-giving forces: women and the land.
The gathering will begin at 3 p.m. at the farm’s headquarters, located in downtown Peekskill just steps from Lepore Playground, and will run until 7 7 p.m. Regeneration Farm aims to bring the community together around agricultural work, share knowledge, and strengthen the ties among its members.
Visitors will take part in a guided tour of the garden, learn about transplanting practices and harvesting food, and join group workshops and discussion sessions. The event will open at 3 p.m. with a welcome to attendees and an icebreaker activity.

A few minutes later, participants will tour the garden, home to a variety of plants. The activity includes transplanting seedlings and carrying out other essential gardening tasks. The goal is to walk participants through the full cycle—from the moment a seed is sown in the soil to when its fruit is harvested.
Then, between 4:45 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., two parallel sessions will take place: a chakra talk led by Zahira and a stretching and strength session guided by Amanda. From 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., Kaela and Nicole will lead a vision board workshop.
The women’s gathering will conclude between 6:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. with a group conversation facilitated by Sarah. During this final moment, guests will be invited to enjoy a warm cup of tea.
Peekskill Regeneration Farm is a public community garden that runs programs in urban agriculture, youth employment, and environmental education. The farm uses organic cultivation techniques focused on soil health as the foundation for growing edible plants and sustaining its practices.
The event is free and open to the public with no registration required. For more information, visit the website or contact them by email.
