Franklin Park will burst into color this Monday, April 14, as it hosts the City of Peekskill’s annual Easter Egg Hunt. Starting at 3 p.m., the park will welcome dozens of families for an event expected to last two or more hours. (Peekskill Recreation rescheduled the original April 12 date due to a rainy forecast for Saturday.)
To facilitate the egg hunt, organizers have established three age categories this year. Children aged 4 and under will participate in the first group, with a designated area of the park offering simpler hiding spots. The second group, for children ages 5 to 6, will encounter moderately challenging clues. Meanwhile, the third group, ages 7 to 10, will enjoy a more adventurous hunt with trickier surprises.
Regardless of the group, fun is guaranteed. The event promises surprises, laughter, and quality family moments. Still, everyone’s favorite part remains the colorful plastic eggs filled with candy, cleverly hidden among the grass, bushes, and throughout the grounds of Franklin Park.
Before you grab your basket and hop into this springtime adventure, make sure to complete the required registration. Sign-ups are available at the city’s Parks and Recreation offices in Depew Park or online via Community Pass. Please remember, registration must be completed by April 11. There still are spots available.

The cost of the event is $5 per child and includes all the eggs they can find. One of the key recommendations from the Easter Egg Hunt organizers is to arrive early and follow the safety guidelines that will be announced prior to the event.
As for the weather on the new date, as of mid-day Thursday, April 10, temperatures on Monday, April 14, were forecast in the 60s with mostly sunny skies. Don’t forget to dress in comfortable layers in case the wind makes it feel cooler, and wear closed-toe shoes suitable for running on grass.
