The Peekskill Community Volunteer Ambulance Corps is committed to providing professional emergency medical services to the citizens of Peekskill. Every month the Peekskill Community Volunteer Ambulance Corps (PCVAC) offers CPR training to the public and healthcare providers at their headquarters located at 1427 Main Street, Peekskill. In addition to offering courses in English monthly, the PCVAC has incorporated CPR training in Spanish every couple of months. On Monday, March 24, from 6-9:30 p.m., the PCVAC will offer CPR training in Spanish.
With the population of Peekskill in 2022 at 25,514 and 47.1% (11,929) Hispanic according to citi-data.com, with more than 40% of the people ages 5 and older speaking a language other than English at home according to WestchesterIndex.org, and 34% of the population speaks Spanish according to areavibes.com, it is imperative as a city and community we strive to ensure that everyone, regardless of language, gender, race, class, sexual orientation, or any other barrier, learns the critical life saving techniques to correctly perform CPR.
Whether one attends a future English or Spanish CPR training session, attendees will learn how to correctly perform CPR on adults, children and infants, how to use barrier devices, bag valve masks, an automatic external defibrillator (AED), and how to stop someone from choking. After completion of the 3 hour course, participants will receive an American Heart Association CPR Certified Card.
Registration is required and the $35 course fee can be found on pvac.org. If you cannot attend or the training is full, keep checking pvac.org for future training sessions.
