Traffic stop leads to gun bust, arrest for warrants
An afternoon traffic stop in downtown Peekskill led to the arrest of a man with two outstanding active warrants for his arrest and confiscation of two 9mm pistols.
Peekskill Officer Mark Frascello conducted the stop at 4:37 p.m. on March 9 on the 1000 block of Park Street and charged the driver Justin Arjani with operating a vehicle in violation of NYS VTL 511-1A, aggravated unlicensed operation in the third degree.
During an inventory search of the vehicle prior to impound, two loaded 9mm Taurus GX4 pistols were recovered, along with two high-capacity magazines.
Further investigation revealed that Arjani had two active warrants for his arrest, issued by the City of Peekskill court. According to court records he was arrested and charged in September 2017 with assault with intent to injure and assault of a minor in one case and bail jumping in July of 2018 in another.
According to a posting on a website, “Bright Thug aka Marvelous Travis born (Justin Travis Arjani) in Peekskill ny in 1982. He grew up in the birth of hip hop. Before rapping he was a break dancer with FBA (fabulous breakdance association). He wrote his first rap in third grade.”
Arjani is being charged with two counts of second degree criminal possession of a weapon, a class C felony, and two counts of third degree criminal possession of a weapon, a class D felony. He was held in police custody awaiting arraignment in the City of Peekskill court.
