I’m proud to know that Kinship Coworking and Retail has offered a sense of joy and community to its members. Local makers have seen their work fly off the shelves, particularly around Small Business Saturday and the holiday season, thanks to all those in the Peekskill community who showed up to support local artists! Coworking here feels like being part of a club consisting of all your biggest fans. Members introduce one another to new clients, encourage you to go for it when you’re considering asking for a promotion, or give your work a final once-over before you hit send. It’s blossomed into something bigger and better than what I had imagined.
Maintaining all that Kinship has to offer, however, has been a real struggle as a solo entrepreneur with a full-time job and what is essentially two businesses in one (coworking and retail). The time has come for me to step away from the helm for my own health. However, this change also makes way for a new opportunity… for Kinship to convert from a coworking business model to a shared office, cooperative space!
Already outfitted with everything you could need to work comfortably and reliably, we’ve been given the opportunity to revise Kinship’s model and use this gorgeous building as a shared office space. Led by a small board of original Kinship members, the space would be made available for 24/7 access at $200 a month. Internet, cleaning duties, and supplies are to be split amongst the group and members can use the space to work, meet, and host. If this sounds like something you’d like to be part of, please reach out to [email protected] this week. If we get 3-5 more members, this conversion to a cooperative workspace will be underway!
Exactly what the future holds for Kinship is still up in the air, but I’m very grateful to all those who joined, purchased work, and visited. I’m also very grateful to my landlords who have been so supportive of Kinship in both their words and actions.
