Editor’s Note: The following information was provided by the Rotary Club of Peekskill
The Rotary Club of Peekskill and the Rotary Club of the Hudson Valley have organized an outreach for early detection of breast cancer lesions on five Saturdays, July 17, 2021, to August 14, 2021 (9:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.), at the Kiley Youth Center in Peekskill. The outreach, based on an innovative, FDA-cleared device, iBreastExam, is based on tactile sensing technology, and is (a) non-invasive, (b) portable, (c) radiation free, and (d) gives results in minutes. https://www.ibreastexam.com.
The iBreastExam has been hailed uniformly by medical professionals and health organizations, including the WHO (“clinically effective breast lesion detection”), as a highly effective supplement to the established methods to diagnose breast cancer such as mammograms or biopsies. Most recently, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists endorsed iBreastExam as a “thought leader.”
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kUY9jR7BPDg. It is a major development in the access to preventative health care, especially for low wage earners.
The Rotary Club of the Hudson Valley initiated this Public Health Initiative and held the first phase in New Rochelle earlier this year. The Rotary Club of Peekskill joins this Initiative, which is expected to cover about 1,000 women in this phase, primarily from Peekskill. We plan to continue this fight against breast cancer through similar outreaches in other areas of Westchester.
Dr. Maria Castaldi, Chief, Breast Cancer Surgery and Director of the Breast Health Center at Westchester Medical Center, and her hand-picked medical team, will conduct the iBreastExam tests and advise on follow-ups where needed.
